“The Mystery of Losing the Title for an Old Motorcycle: One Rider’s Search for Closure”

May 31, 2023

When Tracey Grey set out to find her father’s old motorcycle, she knew it would be a difficult task. Her father had passed away almost ten years ago, and the bike had been missing for nearly as long. It had been his pride and joy, a classic Japanese model from the 1970s that he had lovingly restored and cherished until his last days.

Tracey was determined to locate the bike not only as a way to honor her father’s memory, but also to bring closure to a lingering mystery surrounding the bike’s disappearance. For years, her family had puzzled over what could have happened to it; the title for the bike had been lost, leaving them with no way of knowing who might have taken it or where it might be now.

After months of searching, Tracey finally tracked down a woman who she thought might have some information about the bike. She told Tracey that her late husband had owned a similar model and that he may have bought it from someone who had purchased it from Tracey’s father at some point in the past. Unfortunately, the woman didn’t know anything more than that and suggested that Tracey check with local motorcycle clubs or shops in case anyone there might recognize the bike or be able to provide additional information.

Tracey followed up on this lead and visited several local clubs and shops, but no one seemed to know anything about her father’s motorcycle. She even contacted the DMV in hopes of locating the original title for the bike, but they told her that they did not have any record of it.

Frustrated but not ready to give up, Tracey decided to take things into her own hands and use social media as a way to spread the word about her search. She created an online profile dedicated solely to finding her father’s old motorcycle and started posting photos of it along with its unique identifying features in case anyone out there might recognize it. She also reached out to friends and family members on Facebook asking them to share her posts in hopes of finding someone who knew something about her dad’s beloved ride.

The response was overwhelming; within weeks, Tracey had received hundreds of comments from people all over the world offering their condolences and support for her quest. Slowly but surely, she started receiving messages from people who had seen or heard about a similar motorcycle matching the description of her dad’s old ride; some even sent pictures and videos of themselves riding similar models!

The most promising lead came from an elderly man in Germany who said he owned a vintage Japanese motorcycle that closely resembled hers. After exchanging emails back and forth for weeks, Tracey eventually flew out to meet him in person where he presented her with an original title for the bike – something she never thought would happen!

The mystery was finally solved – someone other than Tracey’s father must have taken possession of the bike at some point during its absence – but more importantly, she was able to find closure through this experience by reconnecting with something that was so important to both her father and herself. Although getting her hands on the original title was an amazing feeling, Tracey ultimately found peace in simply knowing what happened to his beloved machine.
